Because I need your opinion. Here's the thing: I love wearing a scarf. And when I see a shawl worn like a scarf, I'm totally into it. Case in point, Jared Flood's lovely Terra.
But in general, when I see a shawl worn more traditionally, no matter how beautiful, it feels somewhat anachronistic -- like something best worn on the prairie or with a hoop skirt, not with sneakers.
Pictures like this one (though impossibly beautiful) aren't helping:

What do you think? Is this just me? Do you rock a casual shawl? Advice about how to pull off the look?
I feel the same way! I find the smaller shawls easier to wear day to day, as more kerchief (point in the front) than traditional (in the back). I get compliments when I wear my Ishbel shawl (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/WildThingsRun/ishbel), made with about 200 yards of fingering weight. When I wear my bigger, really triangular Icarus shawl, I tend to drape it sideways, with the point over an arm, and that works for me too!
